Over 100 million people watch the Super Bowl halftime show every year. It is the biggest stage in American television, perhaps worldwide.
Turning Point USA looked at that and said: we can do that too.
The Plan
Back in October, after the NFL announced Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl LX halftime headliner, TPUSA — the conservative nonprofit founded by the late Charlie Kirk — launched its own alternative. They called it The All-American Halftime Show.
Bad Bunny wasn’t the right choice. That was the argument, anyway.
The Pitch
TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet pitched it clean. “The All-American Halftime Show is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom.”
No agenda. That was the message.
The headliner they picked to deliver it? Kid Rock — a man with decades of controversies under his belt. Confederate flag on stage. Homophobic slurs. A viral video of him shooting cases of Bud Light with a rifle. The guy who sold T-shirts labeling blue states “Dumbf***istan.”
Kid Rock is the face of no agenda.
The Competition
The Super Bowl halftime show draws artists like Rihanna, Usher, and Shakira. It is watched by more than 100 million people. It broadcasts on NBC.
TPUSA’s show will stream on Rumble, OAN, and The Daily Wire.
Kid Rock saw this gap and called it what it is. “We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath,” he said in a statement. “Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible… or is it?”
It was supposed to sound inspiring. It mostly just sounds accurate.
The Details. Or Lack Thereof.
Here’s where it gets interesting.
The Super Bowl is on February 8. TPUSA announced this show back in October. For months, they refused to name a single performer. When reporters asked, they were told to just tune in.
Their own PR manager, Aubrey Laitsch, wouldn’t confirm whether the show would even be live when asked by TMZ. The location? Unconfirmed. Whether all four performers would be in the same venue? Also unclear.
A week before the biggest TV event in America, TPUSA couldn’t answer basic questions about their alternative to it.
The Lineup They Finally Revealed
There are probably 75 million Americans who couldn’t care less about the Super Bowl—but they WILL be watching Kid Rock at Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show. Love him or hate him, that American Badass presence pulls a crowd every single time. pic.twitter.com/SOyWU2EKBw

On February 2, TPUSA dropped the names. Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
Kid Rock is the only household name in the group.
Meanwhile, the artist they’re countering just made history. Bad Bunny won Album of the Year at the Grammys on Sunday night — the first Spanish-language album to ever take the award. He did it in front of the entire world.
TPUSA responded by announcing Kid Rock.
The Irony Kid Rock Didn’t Catch

Kid Rock said the show was for “folks who love America.” He said it in contrast to Bad Bunny — a man born in Puerto Rico who is, by every legal definition, an American citizen.
The NFL backed Bad Bunny without flinching. TPUSA built an entire counter-show around the fact that they did.
So What Happens Now?
On February 8, over 100 million people will watch Bad Bunny perform at the Super Bowl. Some unknown number will tune into Rumble and OAN to watch Kid Rock perform… somewhere…TPUSA still hasn’t said where.
TPUSA called this David vs. Goliath.
They just didn’t mention which one they are.
