Despite its size, half of the city is made of green vegetation and gardens. Due to its significant roles and ancient structures, it is one of the top tourist attractions in Europe. The official language of this city is Italian. Vatican city became a sovereign state on February 11, 1929, after signing a treaty with the Italian government. This small country is sited at the Vatican Mount.

The country has the lowest poverty and unemployment rate in the world. The official language is French. The other languages spoken in Monaco include Monegasque, Occitan and Italian.
